Producing high quality protein crystals that allow high resolution structure determinations is notoriously difficult. In order to find the right crystallization conditions, many experiments covering many of the more than 20 independent parameters that influence crystallization are needed.
KeyDP combines known methods with proprietary technologies for automated, fast screening from set-up to imaging. We apply microbatch and sitting drop technology for quick screening of thousands of crystallization conditions per protein construct using relatively small amounts of proteins. In optimization of conditions to get the best quality crystals we use microbatch, hanging and sitting drop in parallel.
We use state-of-the-art robotics for dispensing and imaging of these crystallisation experiments (see Products, Crystallization Automation section).
For data collection, we have access to a number of rotating anode X-ray sources. When
the intensity of in-house light sources is not enough, we have a growing choice of excellent synchrotron beamlines in Europe with easy availability of beam time.
